APAC- Steve Elrick is stepping back from his position of Regional Executive Creative Director of BBH Asia Pacific.
After 15 years in the role he is handing over individual responsibilities to the 3 ECD's of the offices in Shanghai, Mumbai and Singapore in a staged transition that will complete in February 2013.
Charles Wigley, Chairman BBH Asia said: "Steve has been with us for 15 years and has made a huge contribution to the business in that time. He has been instrumental in helping build BBH across the region and has been a great partner to myself and the office CEO's. He leaves us though with three very talented people in Russell Barrett, Johnny Tan and Scott McClelland heading up the creative departments in Mumbai, Shanghai and Singapore respectively. This team are brilliantly poised to take BBH into it's next phase of creative growth. Steve will retain his connections with us in the longer term acting as a consultant and adviser on key projects and clients. In the meantime I'd like to personally thank Steve on behalf of everyone in BBH in Asia for all he's done here. He's bled the brand, worked relentlessly and now deserves a well earned break. We wish him all the very best. "
Elrick said: "It's the right time for me and the right time for BBH. BBH Asia have spectacularly capable people now heading up the Creative Departments in all the three offices, Russell Barrett, Johnny Tan and Scott McClelland are the top respective talents in India, China and Singapore and are brilliantly poised to keep BBH on the track of bigger and brighter opportunities. They are also all more talented, better looking (well apart from Russell) and younger than me - and are 3 of the most passionate and hungry Creative Leaders that I have ever seen in the industry. Just watching the way they work and inspire their teams leaves me exhausted. It's time for me to step back and let the guys be magnificent. And I'll be on the end of a phone, or at the end of the street, if they need to chat.
"They also have the best management and strategic talent around them - people who bleed the BBH Brand. And in every office, this is now stronger than it has ever been. Though they might not get rid of me entirely - I'm going to continue hovering around haunting the halls of BBH and offer myself up as something of a 'Minister Mentor" should they want to use me that way.
"I've had the privilege of working with some of the best people in the business. And it's a great business. Of course, I'm biased, but after 15 years in what I believe is the best agency in the world bar none, there's no way I could go on to work in another 'ordinary' agency."
As to his future Elrick said first he'll be taking "a very long nap."-
"Then dive I'll into some more personal creative challenges - which might involve me going back to school in some capacity: could be Film School, Art School, Photography School or back to my first love of Writing Stuff and or.... all of the above. But before that, there are two or three little personal projects I want to complete and send out into the world that need a lot more love and attention than I can justifiably give them if I remain full-time in an Agency job.
"That's the beauty of it at the moment - what happens next is a wonderfully unscripted (mostly) future which I am looking forward to tremendously."
